| Summer 2008 Update:
Uncertainty is the enemy of a flourishing economy. Wall St, Election '08, Global Warming, Credit Crunch, doesn't all this remind you of The Fable of 'Chicken Licken'? The Chicken jumps to a conclusion and whips the populace into mass hysteria, which the unscrupulous fox uses to manipulate them for his own benefit.
The sky isn't going to fall on our heads, so no point burying them in the sand. The best thing to do is to continue to promote and market your business in a cost effective manner. Naturally we recommend promotional clothing and associated products because of their longevity and excellent value for money. After all today's newspaper advert is tonight's Fish 'n' Chip wrapper!
We recently completed some stunning looking race shirts and caps for a client in Australia. These were for a crew of Pylon Racers bound for an air race in Reno, Nevada. I received a phone call from across the ditch from an extremely excited and happy client he was absolutely ecstatic with our final result. We were too and ran a spare to display in our showroom.
Yes it is only 11 weeks until Christmas day. We will be closed between 12pm Tuesday 23rd December 2008 and 8am Monday 5th January . Please do yourself a favour and get organised early for Christmas. It breaks our hearts when we can't help people who have simply left things too late.
Frosted Matt Embroidery Thread:
We have been trialing a new thread range which has a matt finish as opposed to the usual shiny satin of standard embroidery thread. We have a number of fashion clients wanting a more natural and subtle look for their embroidery and the test runs have been met with approval. If you think this would suit you please contact us for more information anthony@monograms.co.nz
Our Visit To Nelson:
As mentioned previously I arranged for the entire team to fly to Nelson for the day last month. This was to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
After a fairly early flight we started the day with a great breakfast. Everyone was paired up for an "Amazing Race - Nelson". This gave everyone a good chance to take in some of the sights and explore the city. Congratulations to Kathy & Mel who utilised the internet and the local tourist office to cut a few corners!
We had a great lunch overlooking the water. Denis Barker (former owner) surprised Maree with flowers & a gold watch in recognition of her long and dedicated service to the company. Then it was free time for browsing & shopping.
The late afternoon was spent at the Wearable Arts Museum. This proved to be the highlight of the trip for most of us. There has even been a whisper that inspiration has sown a seed for next year's event - we'll keep you posted.
After a few sun-downers at a local pub we flew home exhausted but happy.
