Embroidery

Embroidery is stitching through fabric. An embroidery programme is a series of electronic instructions that tell the multi-head embroidery machine how to move, trim threads and switch colours.

Many different types of fabrics, garments and headwear can be embroidered as long as it is first able to be framed and then have a needle driven through it. Different fabrics and apparel require different stitch techniques to achieve a good result. This requires that different embroidery programmes be used.

We have invested in a top of the range digitising system so that we produce top quality embroidery programmes in house. After digitising a design we provide an computer generated electronic proof prior to production.

The price of embroidery is based on the number of stitches in each design and the number of units in each order. The number of colours in each design is largely irrelevant up to nine colours.

We have approximately 300 different coloured threads to choose from. There is not a thread colour for every Pantone or PMS colour reference but if these references numbers are supplied we can usually get a close match.

Southern Monograms Ltd predominately use polyester embroidery thread. This thread is kinder to the environment as it takes fewer chemicals to dye. Polyester thread also retains its colour better than other thread types at high wash temperatures. This is especially important for sportswear, aprons, overalls and other garments that are commercially laundered.

We continually keep up with changes in embroidery technology and have a wide range of different frames available so that our customers can have their design where they really want it and at a suitable size.
